THE DUPPY(GHOST) KNOCKS
Share
One night in Daytona Portmore Jamaica, a man and his baby mother were fast asleep.
Suddenly, he was awake by a knock at the front door. Confused and half-asleep, he called out, asking if it was Javi, his friend who often knocked at odd hours.
A voice answered, “Yes,” so he got out of bed to open the door. Just as he reached for the handle, his baby mother grabbed his arm and asked, “Where are you going?”
He replied, “Javi’s outside. I’m letting him in.”
Her face turned pale as she whispered, “Nobody’s out there. Nobody called you.”
He froze, staring at her in confusion. “Then who was calling me?” he asked.
She shook her head and said, “You were so deep in sleep, you didn’t even move. No one knocked. No one spoke.”
A chill ran down his spine as he started to wonder if he had been dreaming, or if something far worse was trying to lure him outside. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was waiting beyond the door.
When he glanced at the clock, it was 2 a.m.
From that night on, he never heard the voice again. But he would always remember the knock that came in the dead of night.
